Right now, we’re looking for a Payroll Clerk to join our Finance team in Dunfermline.

What the role involves
As our new Payroll Clerk, you’ll be an essential part of our payroll operations ensuring our people are paid accurately and on time. You’ll work closely with the Payroll Manager and the wider team, offering both administrative and hands-on support.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Managing email queries from across the business, providing clear, friendly, and accurate responses.
- Processing calculations for new starts, changes of contracts, leaver etc.
- Manual payments and deductions processing as detailed on monthly sheet prepared by HR.
- Processing SSP, SMP, shared parental, paternity, adoption as per legislation whilst also applying Vets Now relevant absence policies.
- Preparation of all reports for both permanent staff and locums for Vets Now’s HR portal.
- Pension and HMRC submissions.
- Processing various earnings arrestment’s, child support forms etc.
- Maintaining and updating employee payroll records.
- Liaising with our HR team to ensure correct employee data.
- Provide payroll support to the Payroll Team.
- Perform ad-hoc duties as and when required
Who we’re looking for
Payroll experience is essential (Sage experience desirable) but we’re happy to provide full training on our systems and processes. We’re looking for someone who:
- Is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and keen to learn
- Has knowledge of the current statutory legislation of SSP/SMP/shared parental leave etc
- Has excellent numerical skills, and adaptability to learning new skills.
- Has excellent communication skills and a strong sense of initiative
- Is comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines at once
- Has experience completing SSP1 and SMP1 forms and a good understanding of P60’s and P11D’s
- Has great attention to detail and takes pride in accurate work
- Is confident using Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
